Ancestry Citation Builder

Use the form below to create a citation for a record/image/media found on Ancestry.com to be used as a Wikitree citation.
Optional: Add a link to a free-to-view image so that non-Ancestry-subscribing Wikitreers
can also view the original source. (Highly recommended!)

NOTE: For more options, consider using the WikiTree Sourcer extension for sourcing Ancestry records and many others.

  2. Click the Compile Citation button to assemble the pieces together into one REF citation /REF chunk of text.
  3. Click the Copy Citation button to copy the reference to your clipboard. (May need to scroll down)

NOTE: To see the link in the WikiTree profile for the free Ancestry Sharing Image, you may have to turn off your AdBlocker when viewing the page.
Recently, some adblockers have been blocking bald ancestry.com links.

PRO TIP: If you consistently access Ancestry records from a different country site other than ancestry.com,
then add ?site=XX to the end of the URL to pre-select that site (where XX = country 2 letter code).
For example:
https://apps.wikitree.com/apps/clarke11007/ancite.php?site=ca
